What We Look For

Hong Kong-qualified lawyer
Experience in Hong Kong capital markets work
Strong drafting and negotiation skills with good business acumen, commercial sense and self-motivated
Detail-oriented with strong project management and execution skills
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work independently
Ability to interact effectively with multiple levels within an organisation and across various jurisdictions
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Mandarin

Our Programmes

We offer structured programmes designed to give aspiring lawyers a genuine taste of corporate legal practice at the highest level.

Internship Programme

We offer internships of up to 4 weeks to law students in their penultimate or final year who we believe have the necessary attributes to be a part of our team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to assist with ongoing projects and transactions, work alongside our lawyers, and obtain an invaluable insight into our firm's operations and culture.

We look for candidates with excellent communication skills, an eagerness to learn, and a positive attitude. Prior experience in a legal or financial environment is an advantage but not a requirement.

Application Periods

Summer Internship: 1 December — 31 March

Winter Internship: 1 July — 30 September

Traineeship

As a trainee solicitor at H.M. Chan & Co., you will be exposed to a wide variety of transactions and gain a multitude of practical and technical experience, ranging from client management to drafting various documents. This will not only develop your skills and assist you in building a firm career foundation, but will also help you grow as part of our team.

Our trainees work directly with partners on live deals from day one, gaining hands-on experience that accelerates their development as corporate lawyers. We are committed to investing in the growth and development of our trainees.
